Cleaner – Facility Maintenance

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme is seeking a Cleaner to maintain hygiene and safety across its common premises in Ashkhabad. The role involves daily cleaning of restrooms, kitchen, office and shared spaces while supporting health, safety and security procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain kitchen areas, sanitize appliances and manage waste disposal.
• Perform daily cleaning of office spaces and common areas, including dusting, vacuuming and waste removal.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and equipment inventory.
• Follow occupational health, safety and security protocols and report hazards.
• Assist in preparing meeting rooms and other ad‑hoc tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Secondary school education.
• At least 1 year of cleaning experience in an office, commercial or institutional setting.
• Experience using basic computer systems and cleaning equipment safely.
• Knowledge of basic occupational health and safety practices related to cleaning.
• Previous experience with an international organization, UN agency or similar environment.
• Fluency in Russian and Turkmen; basic English communication skills.

Required skills

• Operation of cleaning equipment and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Basic computer usage for inventory and reporting.
• Application of occupational health and safety procedures.
