Photographer for United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Turkmenistan seeks a professional photographer to capture high‑quality images of UN events, field visits, programme activities and official engagements. Working under the Head of RCO and the RCO Communications Unit, you will provide visual content that supports storytelling, media outreach and digital engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Review assignment briefs, develop shot lists and coordinate logistics with RCO focal points.
• Capture professional photographs at UN events, high‑level visits, programme activities and human‑interest stories, ensuring a mix of action, portrait, contextual and wide shots.
• Edit, colour‑correct and optimise images for web, social media, print and reports, adding accurate captions and metadata.
• Deliver high‑resolution and web‑ready image sets within 24–72 hours, following UN file‑naming, cataloguing and archiving standards.
• Ensure all images comply with UN ethical standards, consent procedures and branding guidelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a professional photographer, preferably in international or development settings.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines and adapt to indoor and outdoor shooting conditions.
• Familiarity with UN branding, ethical standards and confidentiality requirements.

Required skills

• Operation of DSLR or mirrorless camera systems.
• Photo editing and colour‑correction using professional software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).
• Metadata tagging, caption writing and file‑management best practices.
• Knowledge of web‑ready image preparation and print‑ready formats.
