Translator/Interpreter

About the role

The Resident Coordinator Office seeks a professional translator/interpreter to support a range of UN projects in Turkmenistan. The consultant will ensure clear communication between English, Russian and Turkmen speakers during meetings, conferences and document preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between English and Russian or Turkmen during meetings, conferences and other events.
• Translate and edit documents, ensuring linguistic and grammatical accuracy.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information exchanged.

Required profile

• University degree in foreign languages or equivalent formal language training.
• Minimum five years of professional experience translating and interpreting English‑Russian‑Turkmen.
• Fluency in English and Russian; knowledge of Turkmen is desirable.
• Strong understanding of cultural and sensitive aspects of Turkmenistan.

Required skills

• Consecutive and simultaneous interpretation techniques.
• Document translation and editing.
